Instagram post

A little different one this week. As we get closer to launching the [golfhackz]* membership I've shifted my socials (outside of LinkedIn) to content more directly targeting golfers.

The clip above though is about getting better at anything. There are a ton of ways to scale up your improvement but to me it all boils down to maintaining motivation.

As an athlete, as a founder, as a dad, as a husband, I've wanted to give up so many times, but somehow I've always stayed motivated to get better than I was the day before.

That level of motivation has also given me a massive amount of risk tolerance. The motivation to get better resulted in me actually getting better, which led to confidence, which then led to my belief that I'll always figure it out even when all the signs would say otherwise.

Hopefully this quick clip plus this note will help you do the same.

If so, please let me know!

🙏 Spencer

*If you’re new here, [golfhackz] is a golf performance brand I’m building. I’ll be sharing more about that again here soon.

FAQ

I get this one weekly - 🤔 "When should we start our GTM?"

Before anything else. Before the build, before the name, before you've written a line of code. The moment you decide who this is for, you've made a go-to-market decision, and every decision after that one is connected.

This is what founders come to me about more than anything else. The product questions and the fundraising questions almost always turn out to be the same question underneath: how do I get this in front of the right people and get them to pay me?

Sadly though, too many of you hit me up when you’re already pot committed because you’ve built a product for the wrong audience or the wrong product for the audience you’re after.

You'll be asking it forever. There's no silver bullet, but the founders who struggle least are the ones who understood the market before they built for it.

The First $1M is heating up

So far it's a great mix of SaaS, hardware-enabled tech, equipment, and training aid founding teams.

We've eclipsed the minimum number of teams I needed to commit to building this, but we're still a little short of officially filling the founding 25.

As a reminder, the first 25 get a discounted entry fee plus early access to everything we're building.

Keep fighting the good fight. See ya next week 👊
